Veale Center
The Veale Center is the name commonly used for the Emerson Physical Education Center. It is located at the south end of the Case Quad at 41.50097° N, 81.60629° W. It houses the Athletic Department. Technically speaking the 'Veale Center' is the area that houses the indoor track and open rec courts (the east end), and it is only a part of Emerson.
'Veale' contains Horsburgh Gymnasium on quad-level which hosts Mens and Womens Basketball, Women's Volleyball, and Wrestling. Also on quad-level is the actual Veale Center, which hosts indoor Track and Field and Tennis. It contains a 200 meter indoor track and four courts often used for open rec and intramural basketball, tennis, or club sports. On the top level, there is the 'cardio room' that has a variety of cardio equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, and bikes) and overlooks Horsburgh. This level is where many of the varsity coaches' offices are as well as the administrative offices.
There are a two squash courts and seven racquetball courts split between quad-level and two levels below. Some old racquetball/squash courts have since been converted into a rock wall and a rowing room. These courts were donated by a Clapp, so they are technically referred to as the 'Clapp Courts'.
One level below quad-level houses the Issue Room, where towels and equipment may be rented out with a Case ID or a Facility Recreation card. It also houses two swimming pools, the Donnell Pool and a pool also named after Tinkham Veale. There is also a table tennis table set up on this floor between racquetball courts. The lowest level houses the weight room, which has a variety of machines as well as free weights. This level also has the training room.
Van Horn Field is located between Veale and Bingham, and it is used primarily for IM sports and the occasional football practice.
