Undergraduate Circuits Lab
In the spring of 2006, Larry Sears donated $5.9 million to the EECS department. This gift was used in part to renovate the third (ground) floor of the Glennan Building, with the goal of creating a new undergraduate circuits lab. The Undergraduate Circuits Lab is in Glennan room 308.

[edit] Lab Layout and Equipment
The Undergrauate Circuits Lab contains assorted benchtop equipment for both course-related and individual use. The lab is divided into several sections.
[edit] Front Section
The first two rows of benches contain basic equipment and are used by students in ENGR 210 and by Wyatt Newman's special section of ENGR 131. Each station is furnished with
- Dell Optiplex desktop computer
- Digital multimeter
- DC power supply
- Digital oscilloscope
- Function generator
- National Instruments CRIO.
[edit] Back Section
The rear two rows of benches contain more advanced equipment and are used by the students in EECS 301 and Larry Sears's [EECS 397]] course. Each bench in this section is furnished with
- Dell Optiplex desktop computer
- Digital multimeter
- DC power supply
- Newer, more capable digital oscilloscope
- Variable temperature soldering iron
- Two function generators.
[edit] Soldering Station
At the rear right of the lab, there is a side table with a soldering station and a HP black and white laser printer.
[edit] Tools and Supplies
The Undergraduate Circuits Lab is stocked with assorted electronic components, including assorted resistors, capacitors, switches, diodes, 7400 series logic chips, Op-Amps, and wires. They are free for student use (within reason). Basic components can be found on the counter on the right side of the lab. More exotic items, including a lot of old electronics and power supplies, can be found in the "Flea Market" through the adjacent door.
Students can ask George Daher, the lab technician for help finding supplies or tools, and George is very accommodating about supplying tools such as pliers, screw drivers, cables, breadboards, alligator clips, and even storage lockers for student projects.
[edit] Personnel
The director of EECS Labs is Edwin Burwell. His office is located adjacent to the Undergraduate Circuits Lab, on the left side, adjoining the EECS Undergraduate Lounge. Ed is knowledgeable, helpful, and an all-around great guy who can help you with projects or labs, and appreciates cool side projects. The lab technician in the Undergraduate Circuits Lab is George Daher. His office is located adjacent to the Undergraduate Circuits Lab, on the right side. George can set students up with project supplies such as tools, components, and storage lockers. Undergraduate Circuits Lab
