Talk:Department of Biology

One of the items talked about at the retreat was to start a forum about what meetings students have attended and what the experience was like. To start, I have attended both the Midwest Ecology and Evolution Conference (MEEC) and the Northeast Ecology and Evolution Conference (NEEC). Both are run by the graduate students and contain only graduate student talks. At the NEEC, there was a panel of full professors (both at early stages and late stages in their careers), full-time researchers, and full-time teachers to answer any questions we had. I had an enjoyable experience at both meetings conversing with other graduate students in the field, learning about numerous research projects, and getting a feel for presenting myself! P.S. The Verhosek fund offered through the GSS (http://www.case.edu/orgs/gradsenate/VFund/index.html) funded all of my travel expenses for the MEEC, at which I presented.
