The Student Activities Fee represents a fixed percentage of tuition money that is set aside for student activities. Percentages of this fee are used to fund USG, UPB, Media Board, and other large organizations.

Certain groups have established independence from using funds derived from this fee. The Observer, for example, has become fully self-sustaining, using its advertising revenue rollover to fund its activities.
