The South Residential Village is a group of dorms built by the Case Institute in the 1960s south of the main campus. The project was split into two parts, a group of dorms and associated dining hall along Murray Hill Road, and a group on Carlton Road. The two sets of buildings are separated by a fairly large hill (by Cleveland standards), which gave rise to the terms "Bottom of the Hill" for the Murray Hill Road complex and "Top of the Hill" for the Carlton Road complex. The top and bottom of the hill are connected by the Elephant Stairs.
