Mistletoe Residential College
The Mistletoe Residential College is comprised of four houses: Hitchcock, Pierce, Storrs, and Cutler House. The Mary Chisholm Painter Arch, often referred to as the Mather Arch by students, is the crest of the college. The crest represents the transformation that students go through while living and learning at Case Western Reserve University. Central to the mission of the Mistletoe Residential College is to provide students in the college the opportunity to learn about themselves through service and leadership. Key to this mission is to challenge new students to make meaningful connections with each other, with other entities within the university, and the broader Cleveland community.
Highlights and traditions of the Mistletoe Residential College include: an opening ceremony that involves the arch, a six-week College 101 program, supporting the Emerging Leaders Institute, Shack-Up with Habitat for Humanity, tutoring inner-city grade school children on Saturday mornings, the Homeless Stand Down, and making 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the homeless.
