Michelson-Morley Fountain

The Michelson-Morley Fountain was erected in 1973 in commemoration of the Michelson-Morley experiment. It is located directly in front of Yost Hall. The text of the plaque on the side of the fountain reads:

THE MICHELSON-MORLEY FOUNTAIN: 1973

   Commemorates the research of
Albert A. Michelson of Case School of
Applied Science and Edward W. Morley
of Western Reserve University near this
site on the speed of light in moving water
and on the effect of the earth's motion

1886-1887 provided the earliest crucial
