LDAP/Application integration

It is possible to use the power of LDAP in some applications. For mail clients, you will be able to search the university directory when composing e-mail.

[edit] OS X Directory Services

  1. Open the Address Book application (/Applications/Address Book)
  2. Select Preferences from the "Address Book" menu
  3. Click the LDAP tab
  4. Click the Add button (plus sign)
  5. Enter the following:
  6. Name box: Case LDAP
  7. Server box: ldap.case.edu
  8. Search base box: ou=People,o=cwru.edu,o=isp
  9. Port box: 389
  10. Scope pull-down: Leave as Subtree
  11. Click the Save button
  12. Access the LDAP server by clicking on the "Directories" Group in the Address Book
