[edit] Faculty Support at Case
Faculty Support
The Faculty Support Group, part of Instructional Technology and Academic Computing (ITAC), assists Case faculty in the integration of technology into their teaching and learning activities.
One of ITAC's projects is the presentation of preparatory workshops intended to help faculty prepare for the upcoming semester.
Upcoming workshops:
- Blackboard - Thursday, August 11 (10:00 - 11:00 am) in the Law School computer lab
In this workshop, presented to Law School instructors and course builders, we will be addressing topics such as how to create a Blackboard site in the Wizard, an overview of the new features in Blackboard 6.3, and tips and tricks to make life with Blackboard just a little easier.
- Blackboard - Tuesday, August 16 (5:30 - 6:30 pm) in the Mandell School computer lab
In this workshop, targeted to MSASS Adjunct faculty, we will be addressing topics such as how to create a Blackboard site in the Wizard, an introduction to the most useful features of Blackboard, tips and tricks to make life with Blackboard just a little easier, and a quick overview of some of the new features of Blackboard 6.3.
Working closely with UCITE, the Faculty Support Group offered a series of summer workshops.
Past summer workshops:
- Dampeer Room of the Kelvin Smith Library on Thursday, July 7, from 12:00-1:15 pm. The topic for this workshop was Wikis! Faculty were invited to explore use of wikis in higher education and were introduced to both Main Page and the TEAMS wiki to be included as part of Blackboard by the start of Fall semester, 2005. As part of the wiki experience, the Case community, and particularly those expecting to attend the workshop were invited to submit their comments, concerns, or experiences with wikis here.
What is a wiki?
Wiki is Hawaiian for quick or informal. In its simplest form, a wiki is a website that can be directly edited by any user. The most famous wiki is Wikipedia a free content encyclopedia which currently holds over 600,000 articles.
Wikis are collaboration and information building tools that allow users to contribute to and edit information on a body of work.
The workshop was great. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works with Blackboard.
