[edit] What is Reverting?

Reverting is when a page is returned to a previous state as saved in a page's history. The wiki software saves information about every page revision, including the date, author, and changes from the previous version. It is thus possible to revert a page to its state of existence at any given time.

[edit] Why?

It is possible that a page could be severely vandalized or its content significantly changed. Instead of retyping content, it might be easier just to load a previous version and work from there.

[edit] How?

To revert a page, load that page's history by clicking the History link in the toolbar above the page title. You will be presented with a list of all of that page's revisions. The top entry is always the most current version of the page. As you go down the list, the date becomes older and older. To see a specific version of the whole page, click on the date for the revision you wish to view. You will view that page like normal. If you are satisfied that this is the revision to which you want to revert, click the Edit link in the toolbar above the page title. You will be presented with the normal edit page, but with a bolded warning above the edit box saying that you are editing an out-of-date version of the page. Ignore the warning and click Save. It is also customary to mark the revision in the Summary field, just for record keeping.
