[edit] Horstman

Khet: ($29)
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/16991
Chess - complexity + lasers. I am not kidding. It seems to be self published though...

Power Grid ($30)
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/2651
2 on bgg (it and Tigris and Euphrates have swapped spots). 'Gar has this game and it is awesome. We spent a lot of time playing the Java version online last year (google funkenschlag). My only criticism is that the rules suck, but we can teach you.

StarCraft: the Board Game ($57)
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/22827
58 on bgg. Think TI except it doesn't suck (also published by FFG, makers of TI). 3 hours long (so it can be played at a meeting). You must be aggressive or you will die. It sounds sweet.

Notre Dame ($30)
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/25554
Comparisons to both Caylus and Puerto Rico, except probably shorter than both.

total: $146

[edit] Richter

Acquire (7.6) http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/5

           $29.95 http://housefullofgames.com/title?id=224
Think monopoly with strategy not pure luck

Axis & Allies: Revised Edition (7.1) http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/10093

           $31.50 http://www.thoughthammer.com/axis-allies-revised-edition-p-73.html
Come on how do we not have this game. Its a classic. It is definatly a Game-athon game but is well worth it

Cosmic Encounter http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/15

$20 on ebay with ship. Game is out of print
Players represent alien races that are seeking to spread themselves onto five foreign worlds. But alien powers, which are unique to each race,
give players ways to bend or outright break some rule in the game. Think TI in 90 minutes

StarCraft: the Board Game ($57)

        Same as above

total: $139
