Freedman Center/Slide Scanning

Glass mounted slides MUST be remounted in plastic. Our machines do not scan glass mounted slides.

b. Find the Emulsion side
How to determine the emulsion side:
The slide may read, This Side Toward Screen. That side is the emulsion side.
The side with the brand printed on it usually indicates the emulsion side.
The dull looking side of the slide image is the emulsion side.
c. Insert the slide in the Nikon Slide Scanner with the emulsion side down and the slide oriented lengthwise.

10. Review the following settings:

"Enable Digital ICE” is checked and the “On (Normal)” item is set.
“Enable Post Processing” is checked.
Digital ROC is set to 0
Digital GEM is set at 4.
Digital DEE is unchecked

Note: Digital ROC is restoration of color, which you will do in post processing. Digital GEM “looks” through the emulsion layer and removes the effects of the film Grain.
