Freedman Center/Changing Your Input Language in MS Office Applications

The Freedman Center language workstations feature multilingual typing and editing capabilities in all of the MS Office applications.

To type your paper in a language other than English:

  1. Set the language on the toolbar to either International English (if you are typing in a language using the Roman alphabet (e.g., French, German, and Spanish), or if the language uses a non-Roman writing system (such as Hebrew or Hindi), select that language -- see Using the Language Bar for more information.
  2. Open up the program you wish to use (e.g., MS Word or MS PowerPoint). You will see the current language at the bottom of the program window, as seen below.
  3. Click on the language to change it. If you cannot change it from English, type in a character in the document window inside the program, and try again. You should then be able to change the language.
