• 1 saturday a semester (April 21, 2007 for this semester)
• recruits sites for case students to promote service w/o long term commitment
• started co-sponsoring with student groups
  • co-sponsor to provide volunteers
  • site leader
    • organize event
    • fill out questionaire detailing what learned
    • be contact person for event
  • transportation
• last year w/o co-sponsoring had ~30 volunteers

• site update sometime next week
• 2-3 weeks before event is when CCEL lets the sites know if they are coming and how many volunteers
• CCEL working on a web registration
• CCEL would like help advertising
• next meeting 3/22

• Cleveland Botanical Garden
• Magnolia Clubhouse
• Senior Outreach Services
• Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

• 8am-12pm
• 10-15 volunteers needed
• sorting and packing food
• need to drive

• 9am-12pm
• 10 volunteers
• weeding/pruning/mulching
• walking distance

[edit] Magnolia Clubhouse

• 9am-1pm
• 8-12 volunteers
• going to put in new floor - need help sanding and preping (labor intensive)
• club serving adults w/ mental disabilities (like schizophrenia)
• have a shop where can buy things
• will be working with members who paint and do other hobbies
• maybe have snack or meal for volunteers
• put members out in community to work (like baggers in Giant Eagle)
• walking distance

• 9am-1pm
• 4 volunteers
• they are moving and need help packing and throwing away things
• will have food (breakfast) for volunteers
• need to drive (off cedar - relatively close to Case)

[edit] Nature Center at Shaker Lakes

• 12pm-1pm & 4:30pm-5:30pm
• Help setting up & tearing down for "Celebrate the Earth" event
• Earth day weekend
• focus on young children (K-2)
• different booths (solar car, shakes, music)
• need to drive

• 3:30pm-5pm
• 6-7 volunteers
• Retirement home
• game day help
• have fun w/ residents
• walking distance

• 4:30pm-5:30pm
• 8-10 volunteers
• houses people tied to Cleveland Clinic/UH
• families w/ children who are recieving care
• need help w/ indor/outdoor spring cleaning
• walking distance

In addition to the above already recruited sites for Saturday of Service, CPSC can go and look for sites that more fit with our agenda (to give Case students the opportunity to get hands on experience with the kids). Here are some suggestions that were given to us:

• Church of the Covenant
  • has volunteers every sat.
  • tutoring help
• Cleveland Heights Community Center
  • have sports events on saturdays
  • Contact Eugene White
  • Mayfield and Superior
  • have access to montecello middle school students
• Librarys have events on saturdays w/ kids
• JASON project Science is Fun! Family Day!
• When trying to recruit sites, the more personal the better (talking in person is always best)
