Clarke Tower

Clarke Tower is a residence hall in the North Residential Village. It is commonly and incorrectly believed that this building is ten stories high, but it is actually eleven floors. Each floor consists of four suites of two double and two single rooms, with a common room, a bathroom, and a kitchenette in each suite on the second through eleventh floors. The first floor is broken up into a bike room, a game room, a television room, and an apartment for a residential coordinator. There is also a mail room.

[edit] John Hessin Clarke

Clarke Tower gets it's name from John Hessin Clarke, a Supreme Court Justice from 1916-1922. He is an alumnus of Case Western (back when it was Western Reserve University) and a member of the Case chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon.

[edit] Elevators

The elevators in Clarke Tower are among the slowest and most unreliable on campus, and are routinely vandalized. According to an experiment run by a resident in 2006, it is actually quicker to take the stairs if a person is traveling from the first floor to the fourth floor or below.
