[edit] Fall 2008

In the Fall Semester of 2008, Case Republicans organized a mock election in coordination with Case Democrats and the Undergraduate Student Government. Also, on September 11th, Case Republicans continued their tradition of erecting a memorial to the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Throughout the semester, Case Republicans also ran "Donuts for the Troops" events, where members of Case Republicans sold donuts to raise money to purchase care packages for the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the semester, Case Republicans raised over $200 for the troops.

[edit] Spring 2009

On January 20, 2009, Case Republicans cosponsored an inaguration celebration with Share the Vision and the Case Democrats. Despite opposition to then president-elect Barack Obama's policies, Case Republicans felt it was important to support a longstanding tradition in this country, particularly when considering the historic nature of the inaguration.

The Case Republicans also continued the donut sales that were started during the fall semester and, with help from the county Republicans, were able to raise $700 for care packages for the troops. Also, due to increased membership and stronger connections with USG than in the past, Case Republicans were able to set up booths at Springfest and the Thwing Study-Over. At Springfest, the Republicans allowed students to play "Bowling for America," a game in which students rolled a ball to knock down pins, each representing a specific failure of the Obama administration, in order to win a College Republicans shot glass. The Case Republicans gave out more than 100 shot glasses and ran out within 3 hours. At the Thwing Study-Over, Republicans prepared and gave out (non-alcoholic) jello shots to students, as well as raffled off T-shirts and shot glasses.

[edit] Fall 2009

The Case Republicans have several events planned for the Fall Semester of 2009, including, but not limited to:

  • A booth at the Student Activities Fair to welcome new freshmen and get them introduced to the Case Republicans.
  • Josh Mandell, one of Ohio's state representatives, to come to a Case Republicans meeting and speak about getting involved in politics.
  • Setting up a memorial to honor the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
  • Continued "Donuts for the Troops" events.
